Born at Jhargram, living with nature and it’s people is in the blood of Jaydeep Sarangi.

During his tenure as NSS PO he worked extensively in the neighbouring villages of Deva Bharati Mahavidyalaya.

At Jogesh Chandra Chaudhuri College, he worked in the nearby slums with other programme officers. He was awarded with the ‘best  NSS Program Officer’ from the University of Calcutta.

He is a noted scholar on dalit studies. He considers dalit studies as a part of activism. His close friendships with leading dalit writers and activists in the country is unique.
